Hygiene Protocols for Registered Opticians effective November 7, 2022.until further notice.
1. Masks are recommended for all persons in an Optical outlet [not mandatory requirement *]
2. Hygiene station or hand wash station for clients
3. Staff / Opticians sanitizes hands prior to assisting clients
4. Drop-ins permitted… Use your professional judgement re physical distancing)
5. One on one service for all clients being measured for EG and CL
6. Client can ‘browse’ the display racks; staff/Optician uses professional judgement regarding sanitizing frames after client has worn them; whether it is ‘just after client had frames on… end of day… OR end of week’.
7. All facial and corneal measuring tools and equipment must have breath shields.
8. Sanitize tools and equipment prior to using for each client
9. Contact Lens Fitter can access client for first time wearer of CL. Use your professional judgement. [Recommend training for inset/removal by video]
