The Dispensing Opticians Board regulates and improves the practice of opticians in the public interest by ensuring that NL Opticians provide quality professional care to help people achieve better vision.
The Board strives to be efficient in regulating the profession, accountable to both public and registrants, accessible, non-biased, and transparent to public and registrants.
The Board of Directors consist of 2 appointed public directors and 5 directors elected from the current roster of registrants. Each term is for 3 years with a maximum of 3terms served consecutively.
There is a Complaints Authorizing Committee comprised of 3 members of the Board. And there is a Disciplinary Panel of 5 registrants who volunteered / appointed to serve to serve with the 3 public members who are government appointees.
